DIY laser pointer level making method

Some infrared cameras use green laser pointer built in or fixed on the camera. The FLIR ThermaCam® E65, commercially available from FLIR Systems of Wilsonville, Oregon, is an example of such a camera. The laser pointer projects the visible point or area onto the target, allowing the user to visually recognize the part of the target scene being displayed by the infrared camera. Because the laser pointer radiation is in the visible spectrum, it is not visible in the infrared image. As a result, the laser pointer has limited value in infrared cameras. This can cause problems when the location of hot or cold spots is difficult to identify. For example, large industrial control panels usually have many similarly shaped and closely packed components. Sometimes it is difficult to determine the exact component that caused the thermal event, such as a hot spot in an infrared camera image.

It has a laser pointer to help identify the location of points of interest, such as hotspots and/or to help infrared cameras focus. Many of these embodiments also include visible light cameras, which are mounted with infrared cameras and infrared cameras. Laser pointer. Many of these embodiments also include displays that can selectively display an infrared image from an infrared camera, a visible light image from a visible light camera, and/or an alpha hybrid version of the two images. Infrared and visible light cameras may have different fields of view, resulting in parallax errors. The camera can correct for parallax errors and record images from different fields of view on the display. This high powered laser pointer can be used to assist in the registration process. In many of these embodiments, the infrared camera is calibrated to identify the location of the subject. The laser uses parallax calibration data as a function of the infrared camera's focal length to locate in the infrared image. Once the camera calculates the location of the laser spot, the camera can generate a computer-generated laser display for point references in the image. This point can be moved to actually align the visible light point in the laser display image in order to focus the infrared camera. This point can also be used to annotate the image to show the position of the image laser when the actual laser point is not visible in the displayed image.
