Blue lasers are actually the same type of lasers that are used in Blu-ray technology. I absolutely love this laser! I was incredibly surprised at it's power on the first day I had it. I could paint a green dot on the broad-side of a barn from over 4km away. Another pleasant surprise came when a street light went out while sweeping across the sky pointing at different constellations. The picture I've included is the laser shining on the basement wall with an included attachment on the end to disperse different patterns. Also pretty cool for making a cool laser show.

I was surprised at the intense power of the beam. I used this laser to discourage a large flock of pigeons from roosting in my eaves. It had been a long and nagging problem with a lot of failed alternative solutions. It took only four evenings to discourage their roosting. They're gone. The fact that the laser came with a "disco moving star" attachment was a neat bonus much appreciated by my grandkids. Very bright and goes far, but I have adjusted the lens and charged the battery full. This laser will not light a match as far as I have tried every trick that I have read in the comments. Not a bad combo for the price though. Still giving 5 stars because its fun to play with
